Italian newspaper calls Trudeau a “sucker” after a lecture by her prime minister.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a self-proclaimed feminist, has been criticized for his “repugnant” behavior after trying to declare democracy “mansplain” to Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.
Meloni didn’t seem too pleased at Friday’s G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, when Trudeau told her ahead of private, bilateral talks that “Canada is concerned about some of the positions that Italy is taking on LGBT rights.” He added that he looks forward to speaking with her more about the topic and “other democratic principles that the world needs.”
The Italian leader responded on Sunday saying she dismissed Trudeau’s criticism and that the liberal leader was a “victim” of “fake news”.

Italian media were quick to condemn Trudeau’s recent misstep on the world stage with the Milan-based man Libero The newspaper put a picture of the Grit Prime Minister on its front page in black type with the caption translated from Italian: “This git wants to teach us lessons.”
Even Sky News Australia presenter Rita Panahi chimed in, saying that Meloni’s grimace during the lecture “really sums up what we all think of the off-putting, incompetent Trudeau.”
Trudeau’s criticism on Friday came in response to news that Meloni’s government had ordered Italian city councils to stop official counting of both parents in same-sex couples and limit it to the biological parent instead. The move has sparked protests from gay rights groups.
