“I’ve started well, and I will look to be consistent and carry on” – Chelsea star speaks about gaining ‘confidence’ under Graham Potter

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah recently spoke about regaining confidence and his place in the starting line-up under new manager Graham Potter.

Chalobah played 30 games under Thomas Tuchel at the heart of the Blues defense last season. However, his role was curtailed with the acquisition of new stars like Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana.

Fofana picked up an injury in London’s 3-0 home win over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League. That opened the door for Chalobah to once again prove his quality.

He has played three of Chelsea’s last four games in all competitions and has looked good in defence.

Speaking of club official twitter accountthe England defender reflected on his resurgence under new coach Graham Potter:

“Of course it’s good to play every game. The more games you play the more confidence you get. I started well and will try to be consistent and keep going.” (via thechelseachronicle.com)

The Blues will be back in action on Sunday (October 16) when they travel to Villa Park to face Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Graham Potter has managed to transform Chelsea from a struggling side into a well-oiled machine in a short space of time. The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager took over after the Blues parted ways with Thomas Tuchel on September 7.

Connor Gallagher is one of the players who shone under Potter. He scored a stunning final win against Crystal Palace to give Potter his first win as Blues manager.

The youngster recently explained what has changed in training under Potter, telling Football Daily:

“Well to be honest the training was so competitive from day one. And he will make you feel like everyone had a chance to play and everyone trained really hard. To obviously try to impress the new manager like you do when the new manager comes along.”

Gallagher further added:

“So yes, I think he helped the competition. When players are on the bench, they understand that they are always ready to come on.

“I feel that in his first few games as a manager, players who were on the bench and who came on were just as important as players who started the game. So he’s very good at talking to the players.”
