James Bond actor Daniel Craig set to receive same honour as 007

James Bond actor Daniel Craig receives the same honor as his character 007 as he is presented with a CMG for services to film and theater at Windsor Castle.

Raig will be made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George by the Princess Royal on Tuesday morning – the same honor bestowed on Ian Fleming’s iconic figure.

The actor has starred in the last five Bond films, first appearing in 2006’s Casino Royale and retiring in 2021 with No Time To Die.

During his role as 007, he made a famous appearance alongside the Queen in a skit celebrating the opening of the London 2012 Olympics.

Daniel Craig is set to star in the upcoming Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (PA) sequel

Craig also starred in Knives Out (2019) alongside Chris Evans, Ana de Armas and Jamie Lee Curtis and will return in the film’s sequel, which is set to premiere late next month.

Also honored Tuesday is film director, producer and screenwriter Paul Greengrass, who has directed several Hollywood blockbusters including three of the Bourne franchise films and Captain Phillips (2013).

Six-time world triathlon champion Jonny Brownlee earns an MBE (PA)

In the sporting world, six-time world triathlon champion Jonny Brownlee will become an MBE alongside James Guy, the two-time gold medal swimmer at Tokyo 2020.

Jonny, the younger of the Brownlee brothers, is the only triathlete to have been awarded each of the three Olympic medals: bronze at London 2012, silver at Rio 2016 and finally gold at Tokyo 2020 as part of the mixed relay team.

Also MBE for services to his sport was Louis Cayer, tennis coach and senior performance advisor for the Lawn Tennis Association who has worked extensively with men’s doubles players such as Jamie Murray as well as Emma Raducanu.

Ashley Banjo (PA/Sun TV)

Meanwhile, street dancer and TV personality Ashley Banjo will become an MBE for Services to Dance after finding fame after his dance group, Diversity’s Britain’s Got Talent, beat Susan Boyle in 2009.

Since then, Banjo has appeared as a presenter and judge on several prime-time television shows, including as a judge on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

Dame Emily Lawson will also be recognized on Tuesday for her services to the NHS, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic after leading the UK’s vaccine uptake programme
