James Gunn has lost no time since taking on his new role as Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of DC Studios. He recently confirmed that DC Studios has started work on a 10-year plan focused on the future of DC Universe.
Since AT&T’s WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc. merged with Warner Bros. Discovery for $32,900, director David Zaslav has made numerous changes at the company: the cancellation of the Batgirl film, a move that has forced Walter Hamada to step down as director from DC movies. Soon after, James Gunn and Peter Safran were named co-chairs and co-directors of DC Studios and assumed their positions beginning that month, handling all future DC films, television shows and animation.
DC Studios plans to base its 10-year plans around a nifty years-old story.
Zaslav told them he would have a strong vision and blueprint that would drive a more unified creative approach.” Gunn and Safran appear to be repaying the trust they received after revealing at the company’s virtual town hall that their plans for the future of the DC Universe are underway. Affirming that DC Studios will be focused on one big story, Safran said, “This was such a unique opportunity to tell a big, overarching story.” “What a beautiful story – a mix of movies, games, live -Action and animation.”
Supporting Safran’s statement, Gunn said, “So I could make DC the great it could be and the way it should be… I’m doing this job because I know Peter and I can do it. We’ve spent the last few days with some of the best thinkers in the business, the best writers, as they begin planning this eight to ten year roadmap for the future of the characters.
Several DC actors were eagerly planning to work with James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The couple didn’t mention a word about new projects, but their enthusiasm proves they could run Disney for their money. Additionally, several actors in the DC state have expressed their opinions on Zaslav’s decision, as have Jason Momoa and Henry Cavill, who have expressed their desire to work under Safran and Gunn.
Shazam is the next film on the DCU roster. After Black Adam, the next third film is Shazam. The sin of God. The highly anticipated sequel hits theaters on March 17th.
