Jay Leno and Oprah Among Celebrities to Speak Out About Trump in Personal Letters in His New Book: ‘I Never Gave Permission’

Jay Leno and Oprah Winfrey are among the celebrities reacting to Donald Trump’s new book, which includes letters they have written to him in the past.

The former US President is set to release a new book next month that will feature letters written to him over the years by celebrities and politicians.

The book entitled Letters to Trump contains private correspondence with former Presidents including Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Richard Nixon, along with celebrities such as Winfrey, Leno and Michael Jackson.

There are also letters from the late Princess Diana, as well as foreign leaders including former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

during one CBS Interview on Tuesday (March 14), Winfrey discussed the letter she wrote to Trump in 2000.

Winfrey wrote at the time: “It’s a shame we’re not running for office,” Winfrey said axios. “What a team!”

“I think he had written a book and said he wanted me to be his running mate…if he decided to run,” the talk show host said. “And when I heard that this letter was going to be part of a book, I thought, ‘Oh, wasn’t that nice of me to write a note?’ I thought so because I was always like, ‘Oh, I should write a note. The person did this or I should write a note.

“So I’m really glad I wrote a note.”

Winfrey clarified that she no longer believes she and Trump would be a team.

“I might have thought so at the time. I might have thought so 23 years ago,” she told Gayle King. “I’m not thinking about that today.”

Leno also responded to Trump’s new book that the politician never took his permission to publish the letter he wrote to him.

“Jay has not released or authorized a letter to Trump,” a Leno representative said news week.

The publishers behind Trump’s book, however, claim there was “actual or implied” permission from the senders of the letters, who were private individuals.

Letters to Trump will be released on April 25th. It contains around 150 letters, along with comments and photos.
