Jimmy Kimmel makes Ozempic weight loss joke during Oscars monologue: ‘Perfect’
Jimmy Kimmel has amused Oscar viewers after he joked about the alleged widespread use of the diabetes drug Ozempic among Hollywood A-listers.
On Sunday, March 12, Kimmel, the host of the 95th Annual Academy Awards, took the stage for an opening monologue full of quips about everything from Nicole Kidman’s AMC commercial to Steven Spielberg.
During the monologue, Kimmel then joked about using the injectable prescription drug to lose weight, with the comedian telling the audience, “Everyone looks so amazing. As I look around this room, I can’t help but wonder, “Is Ozempic right for me?”
The joke sparked laughter from the crowd, and viewers also shared their amusement at the quip on social media.
“I can’t believe Jimmy Kimmel openly referenced Ozempic in front of all of Hollywood,” one person tweeted, while another said, “It’s not Jimmy Kimmel who is making fun of the Ozempic craze in Hollywood.”
“Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t waste time on the Ozempic jokes,” tweeted another.
According to another viewer, Kimmel’s decision to make an Ozempic joke within the first two minutes of the Oscars was “so incredibly perfect.”
“BINGO CARD! It took less than two minutes for Jimmy Kimmel to make an Ozempic joke!” joked one viewer.
The diabetes drug’s popularity as a weight loss method has only soared amid reports of its widespread use in Hollywood and social media.
However, with its increased use, plastic surgeons and dermatologists have warned of an increase in “ozempic face,” premature facial aging that can result from weight loss.
