Johnson Charles and Alzarri Joseph continue to lead the charts – Updated after Match 26

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots defeated the Trinbago Knight Riders in Game 26 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2022) to stay alive in the playoff race. Providence Stadium in Guyana hosted this exciting competition on Thursday September 22nd.

The Patriots recorded 163 runs on the board after Sherfane Rutherford hit a brilliant fifty. Dewald Brevis also played a sensational 30* cameo with just six balls, hitting five sixes. Daryn Dupavillon took three wickets for the Knight Riders.

In response, Tim Seifert scored a fighting fifty to keep the Trinbago Knight Riders in the hunt. Andre Russell ended up playing a fantastic cameo of 29 balls from 17, but it wasn’t enough as they finished their innings 156/7 and lost the game by seven runs. Sheldon Cottrell took three wickets for the Patriots to help them successfully defend the total.

The list of most runs in CPL 2022 hasn’t changed much. Saint Lucia Kings’ Johnson Charles continues to top the charts after hitting 342 runs in eight games. He averages 48.86 with the racquet and will be looking to contribute in the last two games.

Jamaica Tallawahs opening batsman Brandon King ranks below Charles in the most runs list. He has netted 326 runs in nine games and has given his side a solid start to the competition so far. He hit a sensational century against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in his last game and will be looking to keep the momentum going.

Kyle Mayers is in third place after hitting 311 runs with a 34.56 average. He has hit three fifties this edition of the CPL and will be looking to move up in the 2022 CPL playoffs. He’s been a key cog in the Royals’ batting roster and will be a key for them to go all the way in the competition.

Alzarri Joseph continues to impress everyone. Joseph, who plays for Saint Lucia Kings, has already won 15 wickets in eight games and tops the bowling charts. He has an average of 14.60 with the ball and will try to improve in the next game against Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The experienced all-rounder Jason Holder has once again proven himself in the shortest format. He has contributed with both racquet and ball for the Barbados Royals and helped them reach the playoffs. He has picked 14 wickets in nine games and sits below Joseph in the list for most wickets in the competition.

Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir is also having a brilliant season. He has won 13 wickets in nine games for Jamaica Tallawahs with an average of 15.38. Obed McCoy also has 13 wickets to his name and follows Amir in the list.
