I have never heard Kip Moore I didn’t like the cover.
And today we have a new one from the Georgia Rolling Stones, “Honky Tonk Women,” which Kip sang at The Grizzly Rose in Denver, Colorado last night.
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards while on vacation in Brazil, the song was originally released as a non-album single in the UK in 1969 and released a week later in America, where it eventually peaked at number one in both countries and became an all-time classic .
I mean really who doesn’t love this song?
In fact, everyone loved it so much that the band even recorded a country version of it for themselves with some modified lyrics called “Country Honk”. let it bleed album five months later.
Which is obvious, because how are you going to have a song with “Honky Tonk” in the title and Not Do a country version of this too… even if you’re one of the most iconic rock bands of all time.
And I think it goes without saying that Kip has an absolutely incredible, rich and raspy voice, and with his unique blend of rock and country that we hear heavily in his own great catalog of music, I think this is the perfect song for him is to cover him .
I wouldn’t mind getting a studio version of his rendition of “Honky Tonk Women,” that’s for sure.
Spray it in my veins, please…
And while it’s highly unlikely we’ll be getting any official new music from him by 2023, Kip has tease a new album been coming for quite a while so hopefully we’ll hear more about it in the new year.
He even debuted a new song called “Guitar Slinger” not long ago at a show in Baltimore, Maryland in September:
The original non-album single version of “Honky Tonk Women”:
