Lafayette High in Search of New Principal After Resignation

LAFAYETTE (KPEL News) – Lafayette High School is searching for the sudden resignation of Dr. Rachel Brown, who has served as the school’s top administrator since 2019, for a new headmistress.

There were reports over the weekend that Brown had resigned “out of frustration,” but there has been no official confirmation from the Lafayette Parish School System regarding her departure. However, on Monday morning there was a vacancy on the LPSS job portal looking for a principal to take over the school.

Brown’s retirement will leave the top spot at Lafayette High open until a replacement can be named.

The decision to step down comes weeks after the school was suspended three times in a week due to threats on social media. These threats eventually led to the arrest of two LHS students on terrorism charges.
