Lafayette PD Arrest One of Alleged Masked Men in Home Invasion

LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) — Imagine you are at your house late at night and two masked men dressed all in black break into your house. Then you and your friends/family will be held at gunpoint.

That’s what happened on a Monday night in November (7/11) when Lafayette police were called to an ongoing shooting in the 1000 block of North Pierce Street. One of the people in the residence was shot dead during a fight. Officials say the suspects then made off on foot with various items. The victim – a 30-year-old man – was taken to a local hospital and placed in stable condition, this KPEL article points out.

Almost a month later, one of the two suspected masked men was tracked down and arrested. Today, agents from the United States Marshall Service Violent Offender Task Force (USMS VOTF) along with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office located and arrested 28-year-old Gregory Jones Jr. Jones was charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held in Iberia Parish Jail awaiting extradition to Lafayette.

No word on the other suspected masked intruder.
