Lafayette police at the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident

Traffic investigators from the Lafayette Police Department are currently at the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident.

LPD’s Sergeant Robin Green tells us that officers were responding to an accident that occurred at around 6:34pm on Tuesday afternoon (January 10). The accident occurred on the 400 block of Carmel Drive involving a motorcycle and there is currently one confirmed fatality.

As a result, the intersection of Carmel Avenue and Twelfth Street will be closed while officers process the accident.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and take alternative routes if possible.
