LIVE: Five-mile queues and long delays on M62 due to broken down lorry

Heavy traffic builds up on a section of the M62 this morning due to a broken down lorry.

Two lanes were closed on the eastbound lane towards Manchester. Lanes are closed between Junction 10 for the M6 ​​Croft Interchange and Junction 11 for Warrington and Birchwood.

Traffic is currently queued about five miles before the incident, according to Highways England. Travel time through the area is approximately 40 minutes.

There is also congestion on the M6 ​​South and along the A57 near Cadishead, according to traffic alert service Inrix, as traffic avoids the motorway. A tweet posted by Highways England reads: “Two lanes are closed on the eastbound #M62 between J10 (#M6) and J11 #Warrington due to a broken down truck.

“Before the lockdown, about 5 miles of congestion is approaching, adding about half an hour to normal travel times.”
