This is how the magic stays alive in the final season of lock and key? For most of the last eight episodes it does! Although the final season is two episodes shorter than the previous two entries, it’s a wise decision. Had there been more episodes, the middle portion of the show would have felt very “full”, which would have dampened the overall quality of the show. And since some episodes are quite short (just over half an hour), the third season of lock and key doesn’t drag on as long as the first two seasons.

While the plot remains largely the same as in the second season, the fact that this is the final season of lock and key makes you more forgiving when you watch. Because it’s the last season, much of the overall opinion of the season will depend on how it all ends. So does it end with a high or a whimper? To the Locke and Key fans, it’s safe to say it ends on a climax. There are character returns, new keys, and tons of magic. While there are just a few loose ends that don’t make sense, this shouldn’t sway the overall opinion too much. In the end, the one word that could be used to describe the series’ ending is “satisfying”.

Certainly there are some hurtful moments in the season, especially in the finale. But by and large, even the tamers of moments have some grimness. However, the most irritating part of the season comes from the character of Bode. He remains as annoying as before, even more so to be perfectly honest. However, a midway storyline changes that and it’s great to see. As lock and key values family as much as the problems they face, it’s a winning combination.

lock and key might not have been perfect, but it stayed true to the story it told. By ending before it got tired and boring, it served a purpose and more importantly, served its fans well. And from a show that eventually seemed dead in the water thanks to a pilot starring Miranda Otto and Jesse McCarthy that never went to series, it really is magical the lock and key Not only did it last three seasons, but it managed to find a decent conclusion when so many other shows couldn’t finish their stories. A bravo to everyone involved.
