he London Marathon returns to its usual spring schedule and the city is poised to host one of the most exciting events on the sporting calendar.

Last year, more than 40,000 people attended the big event, with Amos Kipruto and Yalemzerf Yehualaw taking first place in the top races.

Here’s all the information you need to know about the London Marathon as the 26.2 mile race approaches.

When will the 2023 London Marathon take place?

This year’s London Marathon takes place on Sunday April 23rd.

The event is taking place on its traditional date for the first time since 2019, having been scheduled for October for the past three years.

The marathon starts at 9:30 am every year and lasts all day.

Runners who finish the event after the seven-hour cutoff period will not receive a medal.

What is the route of the London Marathon 2023?

The route of the London Marathon, which passes many of the city’s monuments, has remained largely unchanged since 1981.

Competitors start from Greenwich, near the meridian line that serves as a neutral location for measuring all time zones around the world.

When runners reach halfway point, runners next pass the Cutty Sark and the Shard before crossing Tower Bridge.

They then head west along Victoria Embankment to Westminster, passing the London Eye before heading towards Canary Wharf.

As the event draws to a close, competitors race past Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, then turn onto The Mall and head towards the finish line, which is just meters from Buckingham Palace.

How to watch the London Marathon 2023?

BBC One is broadcasting the London Marathon live.

It has acted as the event’s host broadcaster since the first edition of the tournament in 1982.
