Lord of Misrule First Trailer: Folk Horror Frights
A small town in England celebrates the Harvest Festival every year and elects one Harvest angel Whoever helps to drive out the evil spirit Gallowgog. But when Rebecca Holland’s (Tuppence Middleton) daughter disappears after the festival, she gets into trouble and fights the townspeople supernatural powers who rule over this village.
Director: William Brent Bell (The Boy, the Orphan: First Murder), Lord of misrule seems to be an anti-populist treatise wrapped in folkloric horror and rural terror. As outsiders try to discover the truth about a small town and locals like Jocelyn Abney (Ralph Ineson) protect the secrets and rituals of the rural enclave, the film seems reminiscent of recent films in the folk horror tradition How The witch And Midsummer.
Lord of misrule will be available in theaters and digitally on December 8th.
