Luke Bryan = BIG yellowstone Guy.
With Yellowstone Season 5 scheduled to premiere on November 13th and Luke Bryan joining Peyton & Eli the Monday before, I was reminded of this quote from 2020…
In conversation with the Los Angeles TimesLuke was asked what was “unexpected” of him at the moment, and he toyed with the idea of doing some yellowstoneinspired cowboy music.
“I’m really into ‘Yellowstone’ and the music in ‘Yellowstone’, it’s Texas music, cowboy music. I’m obviously not a cowboy, but I’m wondering how I could make a really retro-sounding cowboy song that’s not just drums, bass, guitar and steel guitar.”
If you’ve seen the show, you know exactly what Luke is referring to. Tyler Childers, Whiskey Myers (who had a cameo appearance), Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, Turnpike Troubadours, Chris Stapleton, Blackberry Smoke and Ryan Bingham (who stars in the show) are just some of the artists you’ll hear regularly will be at the fair.
Are they all texan music? Not really, but I know where Luke is getting at. It’s real country music, and every time a star as big as Luke says he’s inspired by real country music (as opposed to typical Nashville pop-country crap), that’s probably a good thing for the genre.
Of course, that’s just a spontaneous, hypothetical sort of question, but if Luke is going to embrace that Texan country and/or cowboy-country sound, as he called it, I’ll probably take anything that swings the pendulum back toward traditional. Well, the execution could be a whole different story…
And he followed that up with a comment about some Duran Duran, 80’s style, synthesizer music… so who really knows what he might want to do.
Luke Bryan is set to host the CMA Awards with Peyton Manning on November 9th, and you can bet what a** we will tweet live.
