M Venkatesh claims five fer for Karnataka on his first class debut; Parth Bhut ton lifts Saurashtra

In the third quarter-final of the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday, January 31, Karnataka Pacer M Venkatesh grabbed 5 from 36 in 14 overs in his top-flight debut against Uttarakhand. Thanks to Venkatesh’s brilliance, Uttarakhand was knocked out with 124 in 55.4 overs after Karnataka won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Vidhwath Kaverappa and K Gowtham also contributed two wickets each as Karnataka dominated proceedings. The batsmen continued the bowlers’ good work as openers Mayank Agarwal (65*) and Ravikumar Samarth (54*) added an uninterrupted 123 through stumps in 26 overs.

Akash Deep (4/46) and Mukesh Kumar (3/61) shone with the ball as Bengal Jharkhand cleaned up with 173 in 66.2 overs on Day 1 of the 1st Quarterfinals of the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Bengal won the toss and opted to bowl first, a move that paid off handsomely. Akash Deep sent back the two jharkhand openers Kumar Deobrat (8) and Aryaman Sen (4) before adding the scalp of Kumar Kushagra (4).

For Jharkhand, Kumar Suraj played a lone hand, going unbeaten on 89 of 175 balls. Pankaj Kishor Kumar’s 21 was the next best result in the innings. Bengal didn’t have an opportunity to bat as poor light forced stumps.

A dazzling ton of Parth Bhut (111* of 155) balls lifted Saurashtra from 147/8 to 303 in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy Quarterfinal 2 against Punjab in Rajkot.

Saurashtra’s punching power crumbled after they won the toss and chose to bat despite Snell Patel’s 70. However, Bhut hit 11 fours and four sixes, adding 61 for the ninth wicket with Chetan Sakariya (22) and 95 for the last wicket with Yuvrajsinh Dodiya (17). For Punjab, Mayank claimed Markande 4/84.

In the fourth quarterfinal of the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy in Indore, Andhra hit a healthy 262/2 on stumps on Day 1 after being sent in the batting by Madhya Pradesh. By the end of the game, Ricky Bhui batted on 115 and Karan Shinde on 83. The duo had added an uninterrupted 204 for the third wicket.
