“Mad Men” and “Mom” Actress Beth Hall Receives World Series of Poker Circuit Ring

You may recognize Beth Hall from her roles in popular and critically acclaimed television shows like mad Men And Mother. However, if you visit poker rooms in Los Angeles, you might instead recognize her as the player who takes your chips.
Hall, whose other credits include parks and rec, Frasier, HouseAnd Curb your enthusiasmhas recorded 35 live tournament cashes over the years, most of which have taken place in the greater LA area.
Her first career win was secured this week in 2023 World Series of Poker Circuit Festival at the Parkwest Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens. She defeated a field of 166 entries in a $400 buy-in no-limit hold’em event and scooped the top prize of $13,885 along with a gold ring.

It was the second-biggest live result for Hall, who has tournament winnings dating back to 2007. Her biggest payday came when she finished 14th in a field of 9,807 for a $350 buy-in Social Poker Championships for $24,000. Hall now has more than $84,000 in career funds to her name.
Hall started playing poker when she was young but has really caught on with tournament fever in recent years. card player met her in 2016 to talk about her background in the game and more.
“I started playing poker with my relatives as a kid, mostly draw poker and seven card stud,” Hall said. “I played with my aunts and their friends. We had what’s called a $2 cut, which meant you couldn’t lose more than $2 (laughs). Once you ran out of $2 you could play for free until you had more money.”
Hall was the only female player in her college home game and has stated in interviews that she is no stranger to 24-hour sessions at the poker table.
“Like everyone else, I got caught up in the hold’em hype when you could see the hole cards on TV and really understand them. My husband and I started playing $2 limit, worked our way up to no limit, and eventually got into tournaments.”
