Malala praised the “perfect” reaction to the Oscars gag about Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine

Education activist Malala Yousafzai was among the celebrities and notables spotted walking the champagne-colored red carpet ahead of this year’s Academy Awards.

Born in Pakistan, the Nobel Peace Prize winner attended the Oscars as an executive producer stranger at the gatea nominee for Best Documentary Short Film.

Ms. Yousafzai, popularly known by her first name, wore a glittering, floor-length Ralph Lauren gown with silver sequins and an integrated headscarf. She also wore an emerald flower ring by Santi Jewels.

Malala was praised for a “classy and perfect” response to a mid-night gag by Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel in which he pretended to be asking questions from members of the public.

“As the youngest Nobel laureate in history,” Kimmel asked, “I was wondering if Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine?”

Malala replied, “I’m only talking about peace.”

Twitter users praised the moment, calling it a “mic drop” moment, while others were unfazed by using a Nobel Peace Prize winner to stage an “unfunny” joke.

“Ok but did @jimmykimmel seriously ask @Malala if Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Your response was so classy and perfect,” one person wrote.

Speaking to ABC earlier in the evening, Ms Yousafzai said she was determined to enjoy the night and was looking forward to Rihanna’s performance.

stranger at the gate is the dramatic story of a former US Marine who plots a terrorist attack on a mosque in Muncie, Indiana.

Richard “Mac” McKinney admits he harbored a deep hatred of Muslims and planned to bomb the Islamic Center in his hometown.

He visited the mosque to gather information and found himself welcome in the community.

“This is a story about the power of forgiveness, redemption, kindness and compassion. I believe in these values,” Ms. Yousafzai said of the film. “What really strikes me about this film is Mac’s willingness to embrace that love and compassion. He took his time, but he didn’t lock the door on the love he saw there.”

Ms. Yousafzai was once murdered by the Taliban for campaigning for girls’ right to education.

In a recent speech, she criticized Hollywood for its lack of representation of Muslims and Asians diversity‘s Power of Women event.
