All of the sealed ballot boxes from the 68 nationwide polling stations had been brought here by Tuesday evening and stored in a “vault” at the party office.
Kharge counting agents are Pramod Tiwari, Kodikunil Suresh, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Nasir Hussain, Kuljit Singh Bagra and Gurdeep Singh Sappal.
Karti Chidambaram, Atul Chaturvedi and Sumedh Gaikwal are among those counted among Tharoor’s agents.
The head of the Congress’ Central Elections Authority, Madhusudan Mistry, has expressed his satisfaction with the party’s presidential election process, saying it is “free, fair and transparent”.
He has also said it was a secret ballot and no one would know who voted for whom.
Of the 9,915 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates who formed the electoral college to secretly elect the party leader, more than 9,500 cast their ballots at the PCC offices and AICC headquarters, Mistry said at a news conference the end of the election on Monday.
