A 34-year-old man who is not criminally responsible for a fatal knife attack in Scarborough in 2013 is on the run for the second time in 18 months

According to Toronto police, Kalib Dufty, who police also had to track down in 2022, was last seen in the area of Coxwell and Mortimer Aves. — where Michael Garron Hospital is located — around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Dufty was 23 when he was charged with second-degree murder following the April 30, 2013, stabbing of a 58-year-old man in a basement apartment at 1678 Kingston Rd., near Birchmount Rd.
The victim’s name has not been released at this time.
Dufty was found not criminally responsible for the murder on April 24, 2017 (NCR).
“He is currently bound on a Form 49 warrant and a bench warrant,” said Const. Laura Brabant said this on Wednesday and explained that Dufty had been admitted to the care of a provincial psychiatric hospital.

Dufty also escaped from custody on May 31, 2022, but was located the next day.
The elopement victim is described as being 5ft 7in tall, slim to medium build and has long, graying brown hair. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, black jacket, black pants and white shoes.

Citizens who spot Dufty should “immediately call 911,” Brabant advised.
