Man in hospital after alleged stabbing near Leazes Park, Newcastle
Northumbria Police have confirmed that a man was taken to hospital in the Richardson Road area of Newcastle today (23 May) after an alleged assault just before 3.20am.
Emergency services were at the scene after a 29-year-old man reportedly suffered injuries from a bladed object following a riot in Leazes Park.

They confirmed that the man sustained serious injuries and remains in stable condition.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Just before 3.20am today (Tuesday) police received a report of an attack in the Richardson Road area of Newcastle.”
“Emergency services were at the scene where it was reported that a 29-year-old man had been injured following a riot at Leazes Park.

“He was taken to hospital with serious injuries believed to have been caused by a bladed object and is in stable condition.
“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has been launched and officers remain in the area to conduct a range of investigations.”
Forensic teams are reportedly on site at Leazes Park and are investigating the area.

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said: “We were called at 0315 to reports of an injured person at Leazes Park in Newcastle.”
“We have dispatched two ambulances, a clinical team leader and a hazardous area response team vehicle. A patient was taken to the hospital.”
