Man Rescues Foal Stuck on Bridge

A man risked his own safety to save a foal stuck on a bridge.

Twitter user Omar_pets0 posted online a video taken by a man who came across a mare and her foal when the couple was in a difficult situation.

The horses were on a wooden bridge, and it appears that at least one of the colt’s legs slipped between some planks as the pair crossed.

The mare seemed to stand by and already accepted the fate of the foal when the man arrived.

I assume these horses were (at least) somewhat used to being around humans. If it hadn’t been for them, I think the mare would have been more protective than trusting.

In this case, she seemed more trusting than protective as the man approached.

As you can see in the video below, the man cautiously approaches the couple and claps his hands, hoping that the mare will become shy and move away from the foal. After all, a protective mare can do quite a bit of harm to a human (or any other animal trying to gain access to her foal).

The mare doesn’t move despite the man’s efforts, so he slowly approaches the foal and tries to help him stand up.

It took a few tries and one last “sack of potatoes” to save the foal, but the job got done.

I guess it’s going to be hard to keep a smile off your face watching what the mare does after her foal is safe. Watch:

Did you notice the little nose at the end? Heartwarming!
