Manchester United vs Chelsea player ratings: Elegant Casemiro secures Champions League return

Erik ten Hag’s secured their place in the top four in the Premier League thanks to first-half goals from Casemiro and Anthony Martial before Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scored after the break.
While arch-rivals Liverpool were always unlikely to catch them on the final day of the game, the three points are enough to send United back into elite club competition in Europe.
Here’s how Man Utd player rated.
David De Gea – 7
Made some good saves when the score was 2-0 despite having little else to do. Couldn’t change much about Joao Felix’ late consolation.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka -7
Allowed Lewis Hall to go behind and create some early chances but recovered well.
Raphael Varane-7
Did a good job when asked to. class, class
Victor Lindelof – 7th
Recovered from an early slip and performed calmly against a very weak Chelsea attack.
Luke Shaw—6th
He may not be in the best form but his failure at half-time might explain that.
Casemiro – 8
Scored the crucial opening goal and helped the second with a pass that split the Chelsea defence. It would be fitting that the Brazilian could pull off such a positive evening.
Christian Ericsen – 7th
Calm as always and the man who played the cross for Casemiro’s opening goal.
Anthony – 6th
He flicked a shot wide before being substituted too early to make much of an impact elsewhere.
Bruno Fernandes – 7
In the early stages of the second half, he was unlucky to hit the crossbar and converted the penalty with wonderful skill.

There are still the best players who have inspired Borussia Dortmund, but to have an assist is a positive.
Anthony Martial – 6
Has put his name on the top scorers list but has done little else.
Substitute:
Marcus Rashford (for Antony ’29) – 7
Gave Chelsea’s defense something to think about even before the goal, even if the goal was an absolute gift.
Tyrell Malacia (for Shaw ’45) – 6th
Didn’t have much to do as Chelsea collapsed in the second half.
Alejandro Garnacho (for Martial ’70) – 6th
A willing runner on the break, but the first touch and the last ball let him down.
Fred (for Eriksen ’70) – 6th
Did nothing wrong in his late appearance.
Scott McTominay (for Fernandes ’85)
