United begin their Champions League campaign with the toughest task in Group A and will do so with two more players added to a long injury list.
Wan-Bissaka is expected to be out for several weeks after suffering an injury against Brighton, while Maguire did not travel to Germany due to a problem in training.
“He had some discomfort and we have to see how bad it is,” said Erik ten Hag when speaking about Maguire in his pre-match press conference.
“So he finished training, but it wasn’t good enough to travel.”
Raphael Varane and Mason Mount are both back in training but not in the group that flew to Munich, while Sofyan Amrabat has been working away from the first-team squad and is not yet ready for his debut.
United’s defense against Bayern will likely be self-selecting, with Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon the fit full-backs and Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof the available centre-backs for Ten Hag.
The diamond shape didn’t work against Brighton, allowing United to revert to a more familiar 4-3-3 shape. Bruno Fernandes would then likely start on the right, while Marcus Rashford would switch back to his preferred role on the left wing.
Predicted Man United XI (4-3-3): Onana; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Reguilon; Casemiro, Eriksen, McTominay; Fernandes, Hojlund, Rashford.
Injured: Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Malacia, Mainoo, Diallo, Mount, Varane, Amrabat
