Maren Morris Says She’s Not Comfortable Attending The CMA Awards This Year: “I Don’t Know If I Feel Home There Right Now”

In the wake of maren morris very public Twitter beef With brittany aldean, She is considering attending the CMA Awards next November despite being nominated for an award.

In case you missed last month’s country music world drama, let me give you a little rundown:

Brittany Aldean, wife of Jason Aldean, posted a video on Instagram of her putting on makeup saying:

“I really want to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I was going through my tomboy phase. I love this girl life”

Although the entry was praised by the likes of RaeLynn, Lara Trump, wife of Donald Trump’s son Eric, a number of other beauty influencers and Jason himself, a handful of country musicians left scorched earth about the post and called it “transphobic”.

Cassadee Pope tweeted:

“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging.

But instead, here we hear someone comparing their “tomboy phase” to someone wishing to transition. Really nice.”

And Maren Morris replied:

“It’s so easy not to be a scumbag? Sell your clip-ons and snap them up, Riot Barbie.”

And to cut a long story short, Brittany and Jason both ended up react As for the Riot Barbie comments, Candace Owens chimed in, Ryan Hurd chimed in, it was quite a public argument.

Brittany launched a charity t-shirt, Maren launched a charity t-shirt, and Brittany continued Tucker Carlson, Tucker called Maren a crazy fake country music person… it was a big deal.

And now Maren speaks up.

In a new interview with the LA timesMaren weighed her falling out with Brittany Aldean, Morgan Wallen, the country music department, the highwomen, motherhood and more.

When asked about the contempt for speaking out, Maren said she’s had support from people on both sides of the political aisle, though she sees it as “a matter of common sense” and that she’s tired of the country music industry To defend:

“I think it’s just a matter of common sense at this point.

Friends who aren’t into country music ask me “What the hell is going on with these people in Nashville right now?”

And I always think: “It’s less than you think.”

Sometimes I feel like I’m in this abusive relationship and I keep defending it, “It’s not all bad!” But sometimes you have to call it what it is.

I think there are people in country music who want it to be niche. you do not want to expand it. They don’t care about making it more inclusive. It’s theirs and everyone else is different, or woke up, or whatever.

That’s sad for me because I feel like country music is, at its core, people’s true stories. And thinking there’s only one type of person who can live it out and celebrate it isn’t why I chose to live there or make music within those walls.”

She went on to say that she may not be able to attend the CMA Awards this fall.

When asked about the possibility of seeing the Aldeans there, Maren says she doesn’t feel “comfortable” and that she didn’t enjoy it last year:

“Honestly, I haven’t decided yet if I’m going. I am very honored that my record is nominated. But I don’t know if I feel at home there right now.

So many people I love will be in this room, and maybe I’ll make a decision at game time and leave. But right now I’m not comfortable with it.

I think last year I was sadder. Some nights are fun. Others just crawl out of my skin.

I’m not good at events like this because I’m clumsy. But this time I feel kind of peaceful about not going.”

I guess we’ll find out in November if she decides to participate.

Maren wasn’t nominated for Female Singer of the Year for the first time in six years, but her album was humble quest was nominated for Album of the Year.

Musician shares incredible story of defeating Kacey Musgraves & Maren Morris in Battle of the Bands when he was 14

Meet Joel Adam Russell.

In case you’re not familiar: Joel is a musician and comes from Texas. He currently resides in Nashville and sings and writes songs. With shades of country and rock, Joel probably falls into the Americana category (whatever that’s supposed to mean), but silly genre talk aside, you should check him out… I’m into his stuff.

However, that’s not exactly why we’re here.

We’re here because Joel has an absolutely incredible story about going into a Battle of the Bands competition in his rock band when he was 14 and growing up in the Dallas, Texas area.

It turns out Joel and his band Minority, named after the Green Day song, kicked some ass in the Battle of the Bands competition for under 20s and earned a gig at a music festival in front of a few thousand people . It was pretty epic…

But the real story here revolves around some of the competition in this Battle of the Bands competition.

None other than two Grammy winners (and other Texan natives)… Kacey Musgraves and Maren Morris.

That’s right, Minority defeated Maren and Kacey to win the Battle of the Bands back then, but as Joel put it:

“We won the battle… and they won the war.”

Unbelievable…

Incredible… and what a storyteller.

If you want to listen to Minority, circa 2006…here’s a music video they made for a song called “Don’t Tell Me.”

Gotta love it… just a bunch of kids with a garage band chasing a dream.

These days, Joel sounds a little different… a little dressier (and I imagine his shorts fit a little better than they used to).

Apart from that, here is his latest single called “Dice For A Dollar”.
