Mike McLusky by Jeremy Renner and Mayor of Kingston are back at it Outstanding+. The premiere episode “Never Missed a Pigeon” continues after the chaos of Season One Finale. The prison riot has sent the city into shock, with many deaths, assaults and ongoing investigations. Mike tries to keep the peace by working as an advocate between the police and the gangs. It’s a solid opening episode that restores old tensions while introducing new threats. Here’s what happened Episode one of Mayor of Kingston season 2:

  • Mike blindfolds Iris and leads her to her own private boat for the week. He talks about just focusing on the good memories before heading back into chaos.
  • Officer Kareem Moore is traumatized by what happened during the riots, but he’s desperate to get back to work. He denies being raped and is acquitted of duty. As soon as he is back in prison, Kareem beats his perpetrators to death.
  • The riots left the prison system in disarray. Inside, stabbings and other deaths are common, while outside there are drug raids and car shootings. This is due to the lack of leadership within the prison gangs.
  • Mike sees the aftermath of one of those shootings and then meets up with Crips boss Bunny. Upset by the unfolding events, Bunny explains the situation to Mike. There are no new leaders and the wardens stop any messages or drugs coming in or out of the prison.
  • Mike relays this information to the detectives, imploring them to relax while the criminals track down their new leaders. Many people have died and the war between prisoners and the police is getting worse.
  • Miriam is ambushed and attacked, but refuses to report it.
  • Mike is informed that Milo may have escaped from prison and may be on the run. He warns Evelyn Foley, but she doesn’t want to sound the alarm until it’s a definite fact. There are hundreds of bodies yet to be identified.

predictions

  • Iris is concerned that police efforts to protect her won’t stop Milo from getting to her. I imagine she’d want to stay with Mike rather than adopt a new identity. Although Mike is a busy man and she cannot babysit. She will have to go somewhere else.
  • Mike struggles to keep the peace. Bunny is angry at how his businesses and inmates are being treated. Still, the police want revenge. If he cannot make the two sides happy, there will be all-out war. Bunny and the detectives attack Mike, causing the man to have some sort of meltdown.
  • The gangs will continue to fight each other in the prison camps until a new leader is elected. Who will step up to the plate?
