The warnings are in effect from Tuesday (September 5th) until 9pm on September 10th.
Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan told the PA news agency: “Many people will probably see the summer just gone as pretty unexceptional, pretty disappointing if you had any plans in the UK.”
“This week it is likely that we will experience the highest temperature of the year so far.”
The official heatwave criteria will be met for much of southern Britain this week, with temperatures expected to remain high across much of England and Wales until the weekend.

The meteorologist said this week will be the first prolonged spell of heat in the UK since June, following an unusually wet July.
Mr Morgan added: “We could well reach record-breaking temperatures over the next few days.
“It’s a little less likely to exceed the daily maximum temperatures, but it will still be hot so we’re waiting for a few records.”

Mostly dry and very warm with long periods of sunshine throughout. Fog and mist may continue overnight and the risk of a shower increases into the weekend. Warm at night.
