ROCHESTER, NY – The block party doesn’t stop on Sundays.

The burly and bearded teaching pro, who works at Arroyo Trabuco, a public golf course in Southern California, seemed puzzled as to why his playing partner Rory McIlroy gave him a high-five and slapped him. The 46-year-old could be excused for not knowing he’d made an ace because it went straight into the hole and didn’t touch the green or the flagstick on the way down.

“Did it go in?” Block said to McIlroy in disbelief.
“Yes,” McIlroy replied.
“NO!” said Block.

The Rochester crowd who’ve been smitten with Block all week have gone insane. Block’s caddy patted the golfer on the back as they walked toward the green, and the big man reached in and took out the keepsake of a lifetime, in a week of his life.
The ace brought Block back up to par for the week and into the top-15 for now. Along with a hefty cash prize for his work at Oak Hill, a top 10 finish secured Block a spot at next month’s RBC Canadian Open at Oakdale in Toronto. While a top 4 finish would be very unlikely, it would send him to Augusta National. A top 15 finish earns Block a free trip back to next year’s PGA Championship without qualifying. However, he hasn’t had any problems with that in the past as he has already played five times.
Block has played with the pros before, earning a berth in 25 PGA Tour events, making five cuts.
“To be honest, I’m not scared of them anymore,” Block said earlier in the week.
Yes, we can see that.
