It’s an important true story that could have been made more exciting.

We’re reviewing the Netflix movie Mission Majnu without any significant spoilers.

When countries are at war with each other, people sometimes lose sight of the humanity and love found in community. Regardless of background or religion, there must be some balance in order to live in unity.

Mission Majnu based on a true story about an Indian agent who marries a Pakistani woman.

He tries his best to stay out of the watchful eye of the government or police and finds his peace in sewing. The film explores how history repeats itself because the same cycle of events always takes place. It’s hard to stop the process when you’re born into a broken system.

Mission Majnu Review and Plot Summary

This is the untold story of India’s boldest and most daring covert operation in the heart of Pakistan. The film sheds light on the events that have led to this moment between the two countries.

director Shantanu Bagchi makes some decisions to build the story as he breaks it down into pieces. First the historical element of nuclear warfare, then the love story between an Indian man and a Pakistani woman, and finally the double life these agents lead.

There will be an emotional bond due to the relationship and the fact that they come from two different backgrounds. So Bagchi also poses the question of whether love can conquer everything in the face of adversity.

Is Mission Majnu good?

Mainly, Mission Majnu is captivating, but loses strength towards the middle. The setup of the opposing countries at the beginning and what they fought for was convincing.

Then when we meet the love interests, it becomes healthy and sweet. The family dynamic is the most interesting aspect at first, as her father doesn’t want her to marry the tailor. She doesn’t care about his job, so despite what her father said, she marries him.

When she becomes pregnant, he has flashbacks to his own father and wonders if the same fate awaits him because he is an undercover agent himself. Unfortunately, the performances weren’t strong enough to carry the film or make the second half of this film as compelling as it should have been.

It’s a true story that felt a bit empty because the love between the two wasn’t believable. The writing was also a bit generic and went through the motions for a historical story. It’s a story that needed to be told, but could have been executed better.
