Mom foils creepy kidnapping attempt

Perhaps one of the most terrifying experiences parents can have is when their child’s life is in danger. In these moments, we are often reminded of why the Second Amendment is so important.
When she went into work on Jan. 5, Hubbell Tower Apartments manager Shay Lindberg probably thought it would be like any other day, although she happened to have her child with her for the special occasion.
Good thing she had her gun with her too.
Lindberg’s office is located on the downtown Des Moines, Iowa Skywalk, which it said consists of more than four miles of elevated and enclosed sidewalk system connecting 55 buildings American Wire News.
It is a walkway that is considered open to the public but is still patrolled by security officers.

On that fateful day, Lindberg saw a couple repeatedly walking out the door of her office, Lindberg said WHO 13.
Finally, with her child at her side, she opened the door to ask if there was any problem.
At the time, the couple, later identified as Laurie Potter and Michael Ross, allegedly attempted to kidnap Lindberg’s child. Again, it’s hard to imagine something so horrific.
Should mothers wear concealed in public with their children?
As they struggled to have the child from her, Lindberg told the couple that she was armed and produced a firearm.
Few things scare a villain more than a good guy (or girl in this case) with a gun, and the pair reportedly fled the scene shortly after.
Lindberg then called Skywalk security guard Will Hunter and gave him a description of the couple.
Hunter had some dealings with Potter in the past and recognized her immediately from Lindberg’s description.
Hunter works for Per Mar Security, so he takes names and notes on anyone causing problems in the Skywalk.
According to Hunter, “Everyone is welcome to be here. This is a public space and I respect that.”
Unfortunately, not everyone has necessarily good intentions, then they interfere.
“We have the shelter down here and you have a lot of mental illness in the homeless community and that’s just a sad fact,” Hunter said.
In response to Lindberg’s complaint, he immediately called the police and kept an eye on the couple until police arrived and were able to take them into custody, according to sources KDSM TV.
“It certainly looks like a big turning point here that was critical to the safety of her child, that she was lawfully armed with a pistol and she pulled it out and told them, ‘Let go of my child,'” said Sergeant Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department.
Thanks to a savvy mother exercising her Second Amendment rights, a child is safe while those alleged to have caused the disorder are being held in the Polk County Jail on $50,000 cash bail Yahoo! finance. They were reportedly accused of trying to steal a child.
One could not wish for a more chillingly fitting reminder of why our Second Amendment rights are so important.
