Nettlesworth: Police provide an update after one was stabbed and two arrested

Durham Police officers were called to The Crescent in Nettlesworth, near Chester Le Street, around 4.45am Monday morning (5 June) after reports of a serious assault were reported.

When officers arrived at Nettlesworth, they found a man in his 30s who had suffered stab wounds.

Two people were arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman said at the time: “We were called at around 4.45am this morning by colleagues from the North East Ambulance Service with reports of a serious attack at The Crescent, Nettlesworth.”

“The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered stab wounds to his arms and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment.

“Officials arrested two men in their 30s on suspicion of intentional aggravated assault. They were taken into custody where they remain today.”

“An investigation has been launched and the cordon remains in place this morning while officers collect evidence.”

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote the June 5 incident reference number 36.”

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service also said: “We were called to an injured person in Nettlesworth, Chester-le-Street, just after 4.30am this morning. We sent two double-crew ambulances, a clinical team leader and requested assistance from the Great North Air Ambulance medical car.

“A patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a doctor on board.”
