In the UK, between June 2022 and May 2023, 18,361 motorcycles were registered as stolen with the DVLA by police.
To find out which models were most frequently stolen, financial company Anglo Scottish filed a freedom of information request with the DVLA.

The entire top 10 list of most stolen bike models in the UK includes bikes from just two manufacturers Honda and Yamaha.
Anglo Scottish commented: “While Honda is known for its powerful, reliable engines, while Yamaha bikes are known for their sharp handling, making them cult favorites for many riders.
“However, many of the bikes featured in the top stolen motorcycle rankings during this period are not the supercharged, modified or rare vehicles that one would expect.”
“In fact, the most stolen bikes on this list are ‘commuter scooters’ with engines of 125cc or less!”
The motorcycle theft dataset also included information on which UK cities reported the most thefts Cycles during the last 12 months.
Cambridge leads the way with a rate of 99 stolen bikes per 100,000 people, followed by Southampton with a rate of 82 per 100,000 people.
London ranked ninth in the overall list at 33 per 100,000, although in sheer numbers it had the most residents overall at 2,975.
In comparison, Cambridge had 157 and Southampton 203, although the rate was higher as their populations were much smaller.
