New Head of Brotherton and Byram Primary Academy near Selby

Ben Greene will be the new Head of Brotherton and Byram Primary Academy near Selby following the early retirement of Bev Fletcher at the end of the current school year.

Ben was appointed after a rigorous selection process from a high caliber pool of applicants. He joined the school in September 2018 as Assistant Principal and Early Childhood Education. Previously he was a member of the Ebor School Improvement Team and co-led the Early Years practice across the Trust with colleague Amy Hunter. He was also involved in setting up the Trust’s Early Childhood Education Training.

Ben worked as a teacher at Kirk Sandall Infant School in Doncaster for three years from 2011 before moving on to Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy.

“I am delighted to be taking on the role of Principal at Brotherton and Byram Primary Academy starting in September,” said Ben.

“This is a happy, safe and thriving school with a knowledgeable team of staff committed to ensuring that all students reach their full potential.

“It has been my honor to have assisted Bev Fletcher over the past five years in creating a culture and curriculum that has helped all of our students continue to thrive and grow into respectful citizens with curious minds and ambitious goals develop.”

“Bev has run the school with integrity, passion and care; Her dedication to our learning community has been inspirational and transformative. She will be greatly missed and we wish her every success in her retirement.”

In a letter to parents and carers, Dave Barber, Ebor’s Education Director, said: “As a highly respected staff member, the Governors and I are confident that Mr Greene will continue the excellent upward trend that Ms Fletcher has embarked upon and take over the school from strength to strength.
