Newcastle United need a point to qualify for the Champions League
Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa this afternoon means the Reds are now three points behind Newcastle in the Premier League table.
While Liverpool have just one game left, the Magpies have two games left.
Provided they get at least a point in one of these games, they are guaranteed third or fourth place in the final standings.
A finish in the top four automatically guarantees a spot in next season’s Champions League group stage.

Newcastle’s first chance to secure a place in the top four comes on Monday night when they host Leicester City at St James’ Park in their final home game of the season.
The Magpies then end the season a week away tomorrow with a game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Should Newcastle qualify for the Champions League, they will return to European football’s premier competition for the first time since 2003.
