The Nintendo Switch set an early sales record nearly six years into its life, selling an amazing amount of stuff to small businesses. Recently, it has reached another important milestone in one of them.
According to French TV broadcaster BFMTV, Nintendo announced that the Switch has become the most popular home console in France to date. In 2022, he sold nearly 2,977,000 homes in the country, totaling 7.6 million units. The record was previously held by Wii, which has now sold 6.3 million units in France.
The Switch remains the best-selling gaming system in France over the last three years – the DS, also used by Nintendo, still sits on the other side of the stack with 10.6 million units sold in the country.
According to Louis Lavoue, ten percent of all people in France (that’s around 67 million people) have a switch. Lavoue says that thanks to Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon has had a historic year never heard of for a franchise in France.
As of September 30, the Nintendo Switch has sold 114.33 million units worldwide.
