Northern Lights spotted from the Scalby Mills cliffs in Scarborough
Nicole and Simon, who live in Scarborough, snapped the ‘beautiful spectacle’ from the Scalby Mills cliffs near the town.
The duo said, “When we started filming, there was a thick layer of cloud and fog that completely blocked their view.”
“Fortunately, the sky cleared up a bit and we could look forward to a fantastic spectacle.
“The aurora was dancing and in certain places the entire sky was illuminated in pink on our camera screen, even showing bright and distinct pillars of light that were visible to the naked eye.”
“Although the weather wasn’t ideal, we were very excited to witness and capture this show, especially this late in the season.”
The duo ventured out around 11pm last night (May 19) – and caught the Northern Lights around midnight.
Nicole and Simon run a Facebook page called Astro Dog where they share their passion for astronomy.
