NY Yankees’ Aaron Judge Ties Babe Ruth’s Record with 60th Home Run

Aaron Richter hit a major league-leading 60th home run with a tie on Tuesday (September 20). Babe RuthRecord for a single season.

The 30-year-old fielder is only the sixth player to hit and follow 60 home runs in a season Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Maris and Babe Ruth.

“If you talk about it Ruth and Maris and a coat and all those Yankees greats, you never imagine being mentioned with them as a kid. Aaron said. “It’s an incredible honor and something I don’t take lightly at all. We are not finished yet.”

Aaron is also poised to become just the 11th player in AL/NL history to lead his league in batting averages, home runs and RBIs.

“I wasn’t really thinking about numbers or statistics and things like that.” Aaron said. “I go out there and try to help my team win. At the time, it was a ninth-place solo shot still a few runs behind. But this team, we always had a never say die attitude. We fight to the end.”

Aaron is under contract in his last season.
