OHTS sponsors key category of the County Durham Together Awards

Occupational Health and Training Services, based at Aycliffe Business Park in Newton Aycliffe, sponsors the Health and Wellbeing category at the awards and director Linda Jones said it was the perfect way to say thank you to the region where she works.

“I came to this work because I enjoy taking care of people,” she said.

“I think we all recognize here that moving towards something is a natural part of life. It’s about more than just doing things because you have to – it’s about helping people because we want to.

“And we’ve seen and worked with so many people in the Northeast who are doing a lot of great things, and I think it’s good to recognize those people.”

OHTS offers a full range of in-house, ad hoc and clinic-based services for small, medium and large companies. The small team can help manage the impact of work on health in addition to the impact of work on health, allowing companies to take care of their employees and remain competitive.

The company specializes in absence management and workplace assessments and offers health monitoring programs on-site or in its well-equipped clinic.

Linda said: “I saw the awards and thought this would be a really interesting way to get people thinking about health and wellbeing as we deal with so many different aspects in our business.

“So when someone calls us about a particular condition, one of the first questions they ask is, ‘What does this employee do?’ because they may be sitting at a desk or operating heavy machinery and all of this impacts how a worker responds to the conditions. That’s why we’re constantly judging people and giving advice.

“And on top of that, these people are trying to run a business and keep people employed, keep people safe and be an expert at everything. We can help with that.

“We’re really looking forward to the awards night – it will be nice to be there with my colleagues and say ‘well done’ to so many people.”

The County Durham Together Awards will be held on Wednesday 6th December 2023 at the Hardwick Hall Hotel near Sedgefield and will recognize individuals and teams who have gone the extra mile to help our communities and their neighbors and colleagues to support in the most difficult circumstances.
