One of Us Lies Season 2 Episode 8 Summary – ending explained
The finale begins with a flashback from rehab where Jake and Fiona talk in the middle of art therapy. Apparently, Giselle started a rumor that she and Jake were sleeping together, but he denies it. During their discussion, it was revealed that Fiona had stabbed her teacher for attacking her. Fiona tells Jake she knows he’s a sociopath. As Jake is about to tell Fiona the real reason for his rehab, we cut back to the car where an unsuspecting thing happens Nate sitting next to our newly revealed Simon Says.
After reading Bronwyn‘s text about the true identity of SS, Nate confronts Fiona, who confirms she has been toying with the group all along, and gives him an ultimatum. She wants revenge on whoever shot Jake, and the Murder Club have until midnight to decide whether or not to give her up. Fiona stops her car in the middle of nowhere and unceremoniously throws Nate out.
back on Janae‘s house, the Murder Club tries to devise a plan to stop Fiona. You think that the villain might not work alone, but you don’t know who could help her. The teenagers decide to find evidence linking Fiona to Giselle’s murder.
Janae and Addi break into Fiona’s house and find evidence that she was the one who photoshopped Jake’s Greece pictures. Brownyn, Nate and maeve find Fiona’s iPad at the school’s theater club, but can’t get inside before the villain realizes someone is trying to crack her password and erases all data. To make matters worse, the police find Jake’s body.
In the present, Vanessa tells the group that she heard Jake reveal Fiona’s secret Simon on the tapes and betrayed them. A flashback shows Fiona crying in her car after running out of the cafeteria the day Simon revealed she stabbed her teacher at her old school. Jake follows her and promises to get revenge for her. The group realizes that there is no proof that Fiona murdered Giselle, but they have enough to frame Jake’s death on her.
To prove that Fiona had a motive to kill Jake, Maeve and Janae plan to go on the yacht, hack into the restaurant’s wifi and upload Simon’s hard drive to Fiona’s father’s laptop, making it look like as if she had worked with Jake on it. cooper and Nate are to go to Jake’s house and steal some hair from his room so the group can plant his DNA on the bear costume Fiona wore for Halloween. To prevent their opponent from finding out about their plan, Bronwyn and Addy decide to follow Fiona in Bronwyn’s car.
At the last minute, Maeve suggests that Addy and Janae swap roles since the former cannot drive. They also plan to place the murder weapon in Fiona’s car, but Maeve believes her plan won’t work without the villain’s fingerprints on the gun, and she also reminds the group of the video Fiona has. Bronwyn and the others decide that this skeleton job is their best shot at stopping Fiona, so once again they dismiss Maeve’s concerns and don’t give her a voice on the matter.
As they are about to stow the gun in Fiona’s car, Bronwyn and Janae discover that the murder weapon is missing. At the same time, Maeve and Addy get trapped in the yacht as it starts to move. Fiona confronts the two girls and Maeve pulls out the gun to reveal that she worked with Simon Says. Apparently, Fiona Maeve has promised to permanently delete the Murder Club video next to Jake’s body if she gives birth to Addy, and Maeve has agreed to bail her sister out of prison.
Fiona gives Addy a speech about how Jake was her soulmate before pulling the trigger. The gun is unloaded and it turns out that Maeve also played Fiona. She was just trying to get the bad guy’s fingerprints on the gun. Fiona sets the boat on fire, but Nate and Cooper show up just in time to save Maeve and Addy. Cooper is badly injured. Back on shore, Bronwyn confronts Fiona, who stabs her in the shoulder just before the police show up to arrest her.
After their ordeal, both Cooper and Bronwyn are hospitalized. Maeve tries to apologize to her sister, but Bronwyn says she cannot forgive the betrayal that nearly killed everyone. The other Murder Club members also have nothing to say to Maeve, even Janae isn’t sure if they can ever forgive her.
Meanwhile, Cooper’s father visits him in his hospital room and eventually runs into Kris, who shakes his hand. Watching Coop introduce Kris as his friend is probably the healthiest part of a very stressful episode.
Cole visits Fiona in prison and asks her if she knows why Jake killed Simon. Fiona thinks it might have something to do with why Jake was sent to rehab in the first place. Cole seems surprised that Fiona knew about this. Later, in her cell, the now imprisoned Simon Says received her prison food, which turned out to be poisonous. Who poisoned Fiona? Could it have something to do with why Jake went to rehab?
In the penultimate scene, our Murder Club members happily celebrate the end of the ordeal. Nate gives Bronwyn a necklace engraved with the word “Stay” and promises never to leave her. All is not as it seems – The final scene shows the school turning into a crime scene on graduation day. There’s blood everywhere, but we don’t know who owns it. An officer picks up Bronwyn’s “Stay” necklace from the ground. The Murder Club’s troubles are far from over.
