Passenger yelled at after taking her shoes off during flight – but people are surprisingly on her side

A PASSENGER has revealed how the woman next to her yelled at her for taking off her shoes on a flight.

On the way to a concert abroad, the person was traveling with only a small carry-on backpack and didn’t leave enough room to pack the shoes they specifically wanted for the performance – a pair of knee-high Dr. Marten boots.

However, instead of being uncomfortable in the shoes on the plane, the passenger took them off and packed them under her seat for the flight.

This didn’t sit well with the person they were sitting next to who was yelling at them and even complaining to the flight attendants.

The passenger felt like he didn’t do anything wrong, so he turned to Reddit to see if other people agreed.

They wrote: “Recently I traveled to another country to attend a metal concert.

“I only had one carry-on bag with me, but I wanted to carry my knee-high Doc Martens, which are heavy and big and wouldn’t fit in my carry-on bag.

“I also didn’t feel like sitting in them in a confined space during the flight. So I made sure they didn’t smell and sprayed them with shoe spray as a precaution before I left.

“When I sat down in my seat, I took off my shoes and put them under my legs, they didn’t bother anyone.

“A lady was about to sit next to me and she saw that I wasn’t wearing any shoes and she freaked out, calling me gross etc.

“She called the stewardess who told her there was nothing she could do because I don’t break any rules.”

The woman didn’t give up on her complaints and even once filmed the passenger yelling at her at the same time.

However, after checking with their friends, the passenger realized they might have been wrong.

She continued: “The lady was huffing and puffing the whole flight. She also filmed me swearing at me.

“I’ve told my friends about it and they’re sort of divided. Some agree with me and others say it’s kind of gross and I could have been more accommodating and put my shoes on.

“Should I have taken my shoes off?”

The passenger received a lot of support online from other people who either said it wasn’t a problem or that she had done enough to ensure her shoes were not offensive to others.

One wrote: “I don’t think I’ve ever been on a flight where people don’t take their shoes off. Seems to be very common. This whole thing is weird.”

Another said: “You’ve described your very sensible preparation and clean socks and I totally understand that I can’t pack these boots, I have to wear them.”

A third added: “If your shoes/feet don’t stink they are in your own space what’s the harm? I hope you rocked those boots afterwards!”

Meanwhile, this woman was divided after her very rude behavior prevented other people from watching movies on a flight.

And that person was slammed after tucking their feet under another passenger’s seat.
