If you’ve watched the show, you know there’s a surprise casting and twist in the season four finale.
However, will You Continue with another season or end with the finale?
Penn told IndieWire that he felt they “needed to do another season. To me it feels like Joe needs to get what he deserves and now he needs to keep falling because he has all this power and wealth.”
“But of course that’s not my fault. I don’t know where to go. But for me, with this concept and with this character, we always wanted to be responsible, and it’s not just something that we can keep going because it’s going well.”
Penn continued, “I know the creators of the show always had this next season in mind as their last, in case there was another one. And then it’ll probably be a spectacular solution because it feels to me like there’s something in the works by the end of this season.”
He added that if the fourth season should turn out YouLastly, it would still be a satisfying ending. However, Penn want more.
“You could leave it where it is now, and it’s somewhat satisfying,” he says. “But I think what’s particularly dystopian or terrifying about it is that he effectively won. They took this man and showed him how to get to the top. In that sense, I don’t think it’s the conclusion anyone wants.”
“We’ll have to see Joe come to a conclusion. Should there be another season? That feels to me like what’s happening right now.” Penn went on. “Now Joe has power. There are a number of circumstances that did not exist before. It’s actually a deeper shift. In a way, you certainly don’t think he’s happy. It’s really a horrible feeling. In a way, that reflects reality as long as you somehow don’t believe that Joe will win. You see a man get anything he wants, but you know it’s awful. This, to me, is spiritually resonant storytelling. But I think we still have one in us.”
just recently, Penn also spoke about the lack of sex scenes in the new season.
