Piers Morgan breaks his silence on replacing Phillip Schofield

Morgan made headlines after leaving Good Morning Britain in 2021 after the show had a falling out with weather presenter Alex Beresford over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Morgan said he doesn’t believe Meghan Markles’ claims. His comments sparked more than 50,000 complaints – the most in Ofcom’s history.

Schofield As announced on Saturday (May 20), he will step down from his role on This Morning with “effective immediately”.

The announcement comes after a tumultuous few months for Schofield.

He’s been the subject of numerous headlines following reports of a falling out with his longtime This Morning co-host Holly Willoughbythe trial of his brother for sexual abuse; and the public outcry over his visit to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who is in state.

Schofield’s departure left the door open for Moragn to return to ITV alongside Willoughby This morning.

He broke his silence on Sunday afternoon (May 21) and said there was only one problem with a potential comeback.

Morgan said on social media, “Thanks to everyone who suggested this to me.” Replace Philip Schofield on This Morning in a Lazarus-esque comeback on ITV.

“Unfortunately, there’s only one problem: I still don’t believe a single word Meghan Markle says!”

His contribution appeared to have left fans disappointed, with many hoping for an ITV comeback.

One person on Twitter said: “Ahh we need you back!!”

Another added: “I’d check it out if Piers featured it.”

Taking to Instagram, someone said, “I love you… that would definitely be worth tuning in again… what a show that would be.”
