Piers Morgan faces backlash over Emily Ratajkowski’s Oscar dress

Piers Morgan faced backlash after criticizing model Emily Ratajkowski’s outfit worn to an Oscars after-party on Sunday (March 12).

Talking about the latest episode of his TalkTV show Piers Morgan uncensoredMorgan, 57, criticized Emily Ratajkowski, 31, and euphoria Star Hunter Schafer, 24, on her Oscars outfits.

“That’s not what the Oscars are supposed to be about – where’s the glamour?” Morgan asked. “It’s like a bunch of strippers.”

He added, “By the way, I don’t have a problem with strippers, but not at the Oscars.”

“Look at the Oscars in the fifties. It’s a completely different vibe.”

Morgan continued: “The great thing about the old stars was that they didn’t notice that despair first, they didn’t need it. Now everything is like looking at my bare flesh, not even my talent and glamor and beauty.”

Turning his attention to Ratajkowski, who was wearing a sheer Feben dress with bodice detailing across the bust, he said: “What’s Emily Ratajkowski doing there anyway? How does she qualify to be near an Oscar party? She showed up in more clothes than she normally wears – so not a lot – but what is she doing?”

The TV presenter has come under fire from viewers who branded the comments “misogynistic”.

“Why are they allowing this level of casual misogyny to blow up?” wrote one viewer.

“If a man (wrongly) thinks he has the right to say what women – but not men – can wear to the Oscars, that can be sexism,” wrote another, adding, “However, if a man sees them with strippers.” compares to shame women like strippers are ‘less than’ (they aren’t), that could be misogyny.”

Another wrote: “Always create controversy to stay relevant. He’s better ignored.”

It comes weeks after Morgan name-checked Meghan Markle during his acceptance speech at the Sports Journalism Awards.

Morgan received the Scoop of the Year award for his interview with Cristiano Ronaldo at the ceremony on Monday evening (March 6).

While recognizing those who helped earn him the award, the channel decided to credit Markle as a person responsible for his success.

According to journalists at the event, this remark was met with groans and other audible expressions of discomfort.

Morgan was a longtime critic of Meghan Markle and left his anchor position at Good morning Britain after being heavily criticized for his comments on her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
