pig licking plates canteen: Pigs lick plates used for serving food to poor in Rajasthan govt canteen. Video goes viral

The government of Congress in Rajasthan has come under heavy criticism over a viral video showing pigs licking plates intended to serve food at a subsidized canteen set up by the state government. The government of Rajasthan, led by Ashok Gehlot, had set up subsidized canteens across the state under Indira Rasoi Yojana during the Covid pandemic. The canteens serve a meal to the needy twice a day for as little as 8 rupees.

A video has gone viral showing pigs licking serving utensils near MSJ College in Bharatpur. The opposition BJP called for an investigation into the incident. The video was tweeted by BJP spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla. “A video from Bharatpur in Rajasthan released by many media organizations shows the reality of the Congress’ plans which are for the poor! Pigs eating from plates intended for the poor in Indira Rasoi centers! Not only is this unsanitary and disgusting, it is demeaning! A request is a must,” Poonawall said while tweeting the photo.

After the video went viral, authorities have ordered an investigation into the incident and the organization that ran the canteen has reportedly had its contract terminated.

Incidentally, the video came weeks after Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot urged officials to eat at Indira Rasoi’s canteens at least once a month, saying it would strengthen their bonds with the people. The ten-cent scheme was introduced under the resolution Koi Bhukha Nahi Soyega (no one would sleep on an empty stomach).
