Playstation 5 Slim: Well-known insider gives a closer look at the new console

Sony will probably sell the PS5 Slim both without a drive and in a bundle with the external drive and also offer the latter individually. This could allow Sony to launch a softer and lighter version of the Playstation 5. Those who are now planning to upgrade the new Playstation 5 with the new external drive will probably be disappointed for the time being. According to Henderson’s sources, the first generation digital Playstation 5 may not be compatible with the drive, even if this change should not happen later, but a corresponding software update can also change it.

According to recent reports, Sony plans to produce 18 million new Playstation 5 consoles in fiscal year 2023. However, only 12 million units will ship with the old A-to-C case. The manufacturer expects a production of around six million copies of the Playstation 5 Slim.
