Pokemon TCG Japan has released Scarlet Ex and Violet Ex sets

The Pokemon TCG is a very busy day. While the Crown Zenith special set is available today for English speaking collectors, Japan will move on to the next phase two months ahead of us. Pokemon TCG Japan will be releasing two sets today, January 20, 2023 – the ones that herald Generation Nine and bring Pokemon and trainers from Paldea to the Pokemon TCG. These sister sets are Scarlet ex and Violet ex. These sets and three full flips of Starter form the basis of the Spanish language set Scarlet & Violet, due March 31, 2023. In order for these sets to sound, you should listen to the English language. This language will start mirroring Japanese sets with silver borders and sets with more symbols than sets. The Japanese Express/Violet ex-sets also see the return of lowercase or lowercase first and also the debut of Terastal First – this will make Vs and VMAX this generation’s double rares as Double Rare / Double Rare / the original d’ex -Memory card type. We also know that rare and special rare cards that originated in Crown Zenith will be making a comeback with this set, with Ex cards being the mechanic we’ll see in SARs. English language sets are referred to as Rare Illustrators and Special Illustrator Rares. Let’s look at some of the biggest cards in the set.

Scarlet ex-cards. Pokemon-TCG.

Each set includes one Tera add-on card. As you can see, Arcanine ex and Gyaradose are these Tera forms. Both will appear in the English language Star & Co. While Standard-Ex are not textured, the Tera-Ex is textured. I think V and VMAX.

We can see some of the larger chase maps.

Here are four types of secret rarities that can be drawn. For the Gardevoir ex Special Art Rare, which will have a texture and be linked to a story in the Ralts and Kirlia maps, there is no other way. Full Arts of this era will use green lines to continue the theme of different eras with a single line color in card type (Gold for XY, Blue for Sun and Moon with Red for Ultra Beasts and Silver for Sword and Shield). The exception is the silvery Tera ex Full Arts that you see above with the Arcanine ex. The red stars in the background change depending on the Pokemon’s Tera type. Miraidon ex is featured here as a rare style on a rare Gold Secret. I hope Shiny Pokemon returns to this type of map. Finally, the card right is a Miriam Special Art Rare, essentially similar to a new art for trainers. Rainbow Rares are gone.

Japanese sets often give us early ideas of what the English language sets might contain, so you better read our coverage. You can view the latest cards from the VSTAR universe, as well as all Pokemon TCG updates here at Bleeding Cool.
