Police are looking for two suspects in a “brazen” fatal stabbing

Two suspects are wanted after the “brazen” and “aimed” fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old man in Ipswich.

Uffolk Police said they were called at 3.35pm on Tuesday to report a man had been stabbed in Westgate Street.

Armed officers and a National Police Air Service helicopter conducted a search for the two male suspects allegedly involved in the attack who fled the scene.

One suspect was heading toward Providence Street and the other suspect was heading toward Cornhill.

A section of Westgate Street remains closed around the crime scene.

A Section 60 agency giving officers additional powers to stop and search began at 4:59 p.m. for a 24-hour period.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Connick said: “This was a brazen attack in the city center which will have caused great distress to anyone who saw it.

“Although the investigation is still at an early stage, we believe the attack was targeted.

“Tonight and the coming days there will be an increased police presence in Ipswich to reassure residents and businesses. We know that many people witnessed this attack and we urge you to contact us.”

All witnesses are asked to contact the Major Investigation Team citing reference CAD 245 dated January 17.
