We’ve heard a lot of rumors over the past few months about a possible repeat of Amazon Prime Day later this year. And now it looks like those rumors are at least partially true, according to a new page on Amazon linking to a Prime Early Access sale set to take place in October.
First spotted by What Hi-Fi, the site in question lists a number of terms and conditions (opens in new tab) in connection with a Smart Plug offer that will be available exclusively during the Prime Early Access Sale. One of those terms states that the purchase “must occur between October 11, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. PT and October 12, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. PT.”
Based on this, we can reasonably assume that the Prime Early Access sale will take place between October 11th and 12th at Amazon US.
This follows on from the original rumors that first circulated in June. At the time, a leak revealed that Amazon was asking its retail partners to submit a selection of lightning deals for an event called Prime Fall. This strongly suggested that another Prime Day event was on the horizon with a selection of exclusive limited-time member discounts.
Amazon has yet to make any public announcements about a second Prime Day or the Prime Early Access Sale. It’s also unclear if there will be a similar event in other regions at the same time. We’ve reached out to Amazon for comment and will provide more news as soon as we hear anything.
So, is this really Amazon Prime Day 2?
In all honesty, we don’t think this Prime Early Access sale will be as significant as a full-fledged Amazon Prime Day. It may have all the hallmarks of another two-day sale bonanza exclusive to Amazon Prime members, but our gut says this will be a more low-key affair.
There’s still a good chance thousands of products will be discounted during the 48-hour sale, including many coveted items, cutting-edge tech, Amazon gadgets and more. Think of it more like the Amazon Epic Daily Deals event that ran last year and had a handful of good deals throughout the month.
Except this time it’s more of a prelude to the retailer’s Black Friday deals in November, with a range of deals available in advance if you’re an Amazon Prime member. Remember, you can sign up for a free 30-day Amazon Prime trial (opens in new tab) if you haven’t already, and this will cover you for the sale period.
