Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) prepare to face Angers in La Liga on Wednesday (11 January) at the Parc des Princes. The Parisians top the Ligue 1 table, four points clear of second-placed Lens.

Meanwhile, manager Christophe Galtier has given an update on Lionel Messi’s future. Elsewhere, Parisians are interested in a German prodigy. With that in mind, here we take a look at the top PSG transfer stories of January 10, 2023.

Christophe Galtier said that PSG are currently in talks with Lionel Messi about a new deal. The Argentine is in the last six months of his contract with the Parisians and there are speculations about his next move. Barcelona and Inter Miami remain interested in signing the 35-year-old this summer, while the Ligue 1 champions want him to continue in Paris.

Messi joined PSG in the summer of 2021 on a two-year deal. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s stay at the club has been a huge commercial success so far. The Argentine has also performed well on the pitch this season, registering 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.

The Parisians are hoping that the 35-year-old, who recently hosted Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will also help them achieve their European dreams.

Speaking to the press, Galtier said Messi seems happy at the club but admitted he doesn’t discuss his future with the player.

“There are discussions; The sports management exchanged views with Leo on the subject of an extension. I do not know where it is. Leo seems happy to me in Paris. After that, you need to see his position in relation to the club’s project. It’s an issue I don’t discuss with him,” Galtier said.

Messi won the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball after finishing the tournament with seven goals and three assists in seven games.

The German prodigy has already garnered rave reviews for his performances for Borussia Dortmund this season. The 18-year-old made 22 appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing more assists.

However, the player’s contract expires at the end of the season but he seems reluctant to extend his stay. The Parisians are keen to bring talented young turntables on board as part of a cultural makeover at the club under sporting director Luis Campos. Moukoko has caught their attention.

The German has no shortage of suitors, however, and the Ligue 1 giants will have to compete against Real Madrid and Barcelona for the 18-year-old’s signature.

Christophe Galtier happy with Nordi Mukiele

Christophe Galtier is satisfied with Nordi Mukiele’s contributions so far. The Frenchman joined PSG from RB Leipzig last summer but has so far played second fiddle to Achraf Hakimi. For now, however, he remains an important part of Galtier’s plans.

Christophe Galtier about Mukiele: “Mukiele is a versatile player. He quickly integrated back into the squad and by not taking part in the World Cup, he did a lot of work here. We have a very busy schedule.” 🇫🇷🙌🏽

Speaking to the press, the France coach said Mukiele’s versatility makes him an asset to the Parisians.

“He’s versatile; He can play in a back three or four, in the middle or as a full-back. He has settled in quickly, has been able to work a lot in the last few weeks and is in good physical and mental shape. He’s one of the bright spots of the last few games,” said Galtier.

He added:

“We have many devices; We know Hakimi played a lot at the World Cup and it’s important that Nordi can thrive in that role, even if we can count on him in other positions. I’m happy with what he’s bringing to the squad.”

The 25-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions in all competitions this season, providing one assist.
